In livestock Sex determination is not a problem but in poultry, sex determination is a grave problem, particularly when other related characters are mostly non-expressed. kit has been developed to determine sex at day old age or in adult stage of chicks as well as adult birds of avian species.Two growing feathers are plucked and can be needed to determine sex of day old chicks.A single tube method has been devised for polymerase chain reaction directly from feather follicles. PCR reaction and gel electrophoresis reveals the sex of the bird.
