The waste water often flows in the villages in open places or accumulates in low lying areas causing nuisance and health hazards. This can be controlled through soak pits. Silt catcher acts as a trap in these pits. The washing platform of 0.9 m x 0.9 m size is constructed of bricks laid on edges in cement mortar (1:6) and connected to the soak pit through the silt catcher. The silt catcher needs cleaning once a week to remove the accumulated debris. When the washing platform is used daily, the water in the silt catcher gets renewed, thereby reducing the health hazards
