Hot Soak: The improved method involves overnight soaking of cleaned paddy in hot water. The soaked paddy is steamed and then dried mechanically. This process gives superior quality and also increases the yield of head rice by 0.5 to 1% Dry Heat: After soaking the paddy overnight, it is roasted in a continuous roaster at a known temperature for a specific period depending on the quality of paddy. The roasted paddy is dried in a yard before milling.
