Ferrocement water tanks in rectangular or circular shapes can be economically adopted for storing water. Designs have been developed for tanks of 200 to 20,000 L capacity. For small capacity tanks upto 1,000 L, a wall thickness of 20 mm in cement mortar ratio of 1:2 is required. The reinforcement cage consists of one central layer of 10G x 10cm x 10cm welded wire mesh and two layers of 22G x 13mm x 13mm chicken wire mesh. The thickness and reinforcement requirements for higher capacity tanks depend on the size, shape and height of the tank.
