The USP of this technology is creating wealth from waste. The regular planned collection of chicken slaughter waste itself fetches Rs. 4/kg. i.e. the raw material cost is negative four. 30% of the raw material is transformed into sterile chicken carcass meal, an animal protein feed supplement which contain 62% protein and fetches Rs. 25/kg at current prices. 10% of the weight of raw material is processed into bio-diesel, which has a huge market. The production cost of bio-diesel is Rs. 30/L which will reduce as we scale up. The use of this bio-diesel in diesel engines improves the efficiency and reduces the emissions by 42.7% which can earn huge carbon credits. Another co-product is glycerol which forms 1.2 % of the raw material, which costs Rs. 254/L and finds variety of applications.
Chicken slaughter waste has become a major source of pollution and threatening human health in the wake of emerging diseases it is processed after planned collection in a rendering plant and bio-diesel plant to produce 1. Bio-diesel, a renewable bio-fuel which can drastically reduce engine emissions2. Chicken carcass meal a protein feed supplement for animals (approved for feeding by FDA) 3. Glycerol which finds variety of application in pharmaceuticals, baking and industry. This green technology has impact on environment, health of human society and creates renewable bio-fuel so as to reduce the import of fossil fuels.
