Unique Features Of The Solution/equipment - How Is It Different Than What Is Available In The Market:

A sizeable quantity of the groundnut oil gets contaminated with aflatoxin, a carcinogenic substance. The special filter pad removes both the suspended as well as dissolved particles of the toxin. These pads can be manufactured at cottage scale. A slurry of activated fuller's earth and table salt is prepared with water and packed on a layer of filter cloth. The pad is allowed to air-dry and then dried at 100 C for 8 hr along with the supporting aluminium plate. The dried pads are packed in moisture proof packaging material. The pads are fitted to the plate and frame filter press in oil mills and filtration is performed as usual. One pad can filter 1 t oil by intermittent scrapping of the sediment.
