The instrument is economical, simple to use, portable and rugged at optimum field capacity. It has a metallic sensor and needs no power supply. The instrument directly measures the pH value of soil without need for collecting the soil sample. For measuring the pH, the lower end of the instrument is inserted into the soil in the field. The pH value is displayed on the meter. The electrodes are cleaned and wiped with a muslin cloth for reuse.
